Flushing '51 Ford Overdrive
My goal is to flush out the tranny and O/D unit. There is one drain plug for the tranny, none for the O/D. Do they share a common area? Does that drain plug drain both units? Going to use diesel to flush with, then put in new lubricant.

Re: Flushing '51 Ford Overdrive
There should be two drain plugs on the overdrive tranny. From the 1949-1951 Ford Shop Manual:
" For transmissions equipped with overdrive, drain at two plugs. Refill through transmission only. Refill capacity with overdrive is 4 1/2 pints of SAE 80 or SAE 90 in warmer climates." |

Re: Flushing '51 Ford Overdrive
My '50 ford has a fill for the trans and one for the O/D unit. I fill slowly through the trans., also one drain plug/hole on the trans.
