looking for a door latch rebuilder
I'm looking for information on some place or individual that rebuilds or repairs door latches. I have a small pile of worn out drivers door latches, and the predominate left over nos pieces are passenger door latches. All of my RH door latches are tight and work great. Not that it matters but this for my '56 F100, all three of them.

Re: looking for a door latch rebuilder
Look through this HAMB posting and perhaps you can find a repair source by contacting the person who posted.
https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...&o=relevance&c[node]=5 Might be cheaper and better to buy new latches unless you can repair them yourself.. Look here. https://www.google.com/search?q=1956...hrome&ie=UTF-8 Last edited by 19Fordy; 01-11-2022 at 03:08 PM. |

Re: looking for a door latch rebuilder
I found nothing on re-builder's, but I did find a possible source for the broken spring. So I ordered a pair of springs, should be here soon. Now to figure out how to get the old spring out, they are swedged in. Dennis Carpenter and Mid-Fifties Ford has what looks like the better quality replacement or reproduction latches on the market currently. But I'm looking at doing all 3 pickups at once, and that is a pretty big bite price wise. The latches I have do not have flopping star wheels so am going to try and just replace the lever return springs for now. Thanks for the lead.

https://www.classictbird.com/contactus.asp https://hillsresto.com/ Just in case these may help you out... A few links to places that specialize in old parts. If/when you contact them, if they can't help don't forget to ask if they have any suggestions of someone else who might have what you're looking for. https://classicautoparts.com/ http://greensalescompany.com/ https://www.usedautopartsdealers.com..._car_parts.php If you haven't tried a google search on the words "obsolete ford truck parts" I suggest it. A few of the listings looked promising. . Last edited by dmsfrr; 01-17-2022 at 12:47 PM. |

Re: looking for a door latch rebuilder
I visited with an employee of a T-bird restoration shop and he wanted a pair of my latches to look at before he would commit to anything. So I put a pair in the mail this morning. Thanks for the information on some more possible leads, I'll start calling this afternoon.
