Default '31 Slant Windshield Side Mirror

I saw the recent thread about side mirrors, but I wasn't quite clear about the correct application for a slant windshield.

I have an A400 and would like to add a hinge mounted driver side mirror. For starters, I gather that I'll need to get a hinge pin removal tool to remove the stock pin. Beyond that, I gathered from the recent post that the angle of the arm is different. I see that the hinge location is a bit different too - or so it appears.

I'd appreciate any guidance that folks would share.

These are the mirror installations on my Victoria. I oversized the holes in the mirror brackets to accommodate the 5/16" diameter pins. The pins were replaced with 5/16" diameter hex bolts, lock washers and nuts. The bolt heads & nuts are hidden with acorn nut covers. I used set screws to fasten the mirror arms to the door hinges, so the mirrors turn with the doors.

Two follow ups: why did you go with the oversized pin? And who sells the correctly angled bracket?
Thanks

So it sounds as if the correct bracket for a slant windshield model (A400) is going to be a challenge. If I am interpreting your comments in the article properly, I would likely need a longer pin - which would have to be turned to the measured diameter of the one that came out. Then finding the bracket. Ouch. Perhaps the spare-tire mounted mirror will have to do for now!
Thanks

The hinge pins on the slant windshield models is large than those for other closed cars. we put a pair of these on our slant windshield Cabriolet, and had a friend to turn new pins down for us from a stainless bolt. The driver's side works well, but the passenger side is an altogether different matter. On the passenger side, I am not able to get the mirror to turn inward enough to be able to use it from the driver's position. I've been told that you can gradually "work the mirror" by pushing it inward to stretch the metal (presumably on the mirror rather than the bracket since it is thinner metal). I've also been told by another friend with a 400-A that he bent the arm on his - I'm not sure how this was done without breaking the chrome on the bracket, but ... . A last resort would be to add a convex mirror on one corner, but I'm not quite to that point ... yet.

I personally feel that the repro mirrors are not long enough to stick out beyond my Slant Windshield Fordor's body, which is wider at the back vs the front by 1.5". I have looked at a lot of mirrors and have found none that I would want to run or can run properly on my Fordor. I am open to suggestions that do not involve drilling into my doors.

Are these mirrors original accessories or just aftermarket? I can see how they would be very nice to have on a car.

Put clip on peeps on windwings if they are used, similar to roadsters, to get better angle.
Side spare mirrors can vibrate but look good. Not easy to see with the passenger side depending on seat arrangement.
