Default 1936 ford pickup door lock installation....

HELLO everyone,

Perhaps someone can answer back to me about this. I am attaching three photos of my 1936 Ford pickup passenger side door. When I purchased the door it did not have the Lock installed. I want to install a new Lock but have a question. First photo shows from side of door (far upper Right hole)what I think is an access hole (possibly to drive in a location/locking pin) for the Lock, and what looks like a pin inserted. Third photo (not as good quality) shows looking down inside the door at the cylinder piece that the Lock inserts into. You can see the "boss" on the side of this cylinder that holds what I thing is a Pin to drive in to hold the Lock into position. Am I right about this.
If so, how do I get the Pin to extract far enough to insert the new Lock.

Thank you,

Bruce

I think that you might be able to see the set screw hole looking in the door jam . It should oppsite the center line of the lock square shaft and the lock probably has an indent or flat spot for the screw. I hve putin in with out taking the Panel off the inside of the door.Tricky but I figured out a way as the shaft is on a ball type fitting at the end of the lock. Hope this helps or contact me and wiil try to help. Wrking on my 35 P.U. Kerk

Originally they had a set screw with a slotted head.

That hole sure looks big Don. Has it been enlarged?

10-32 about 1/2" long. It is still in your door. Suggest you remove it chase the threads and reinstall using a little bit of never-sieze.
