Default window seals for 1929

I have restored my 1929 two door model a from the ground up, but can't find window seals that go out side the glass too the quarter panel & also on the door skin too the outside of the glass! this would seal out a bunch of water when I wash it. later cars had a rubber that clipped on to the quarter panel & sealed up against the glass! any body got any ideas how to remedy this problem

there is not a seal that goes on the outside of the glass. there is an anti rattle that goes on the inside.

Pinball 73...

There are two (2) types of "seals" to keep the water out per say pertaining to the windows.

The first ones are the long "T" type rubber seals, or inserts, which are added to the Window Anti-Rattle as Mr. Hash says. If you have your originals, you can take out the old "T" rubber strip and put in the new. This is Bratton's number 31410 OR you can get NEW anti rattle strips with the rubber already installed. Brattons number 31360 for the doors and 31380 for the quarter windows.

The second are the window slides...these are the long felt channels that allow only air and water NOT to come into your car but to guide the windows up and down.

While more modern cars have seals where the windows enter the doors, Model As don't. I have seen suggestions for use of round foam weather stripping to keep the water out when washing the car. I never take mine out when rain threatens. That's easy to do out here where are average rainfall is 11 inches. As with any car, be sure the drains in the bottom of the doors are free of debris.

Ford put drains in the lower areas of the quarter panels rather than trying to keep the water out. Keep them clear!

ep I know that they are the next step up from a horse drawn buggy, but there is a pretty good gap between the windows & the quarter panels & the glass! just thought some one would come up with something to slow the water flow. wish I could remember what model car i was thinking of that had a clip on rubber molding that slid up on the lip of the quarter panel & sealed the gap. oh well it don't get wet over three times a year, when I wash it. eighty nine years old it can take that! hope

the slant window bodies had a seal that was part of the glass setting rubber. and both Murray and Briggs four doors had outer seal strips that screwed into the wood in the door. and the 68 A&B Cabriolets used the same seal strip as the Briggs four door. the tudor, pick up & coupes did not have any seal on the out side of the glass.

This is why I try to never get my old cars wet. I don't wash them and try to never get caught in the rain. Now, as far as water getting past the glass, I guess once you get half a cup of water past the glass, it doesn't matter if 3 more quarts of water get past because it will be wet inside the door and drain out the bottom drain holes. If I get caught in the rain, then I try to drive it enough to dry everything off as quickly as possible. If you have a restored car with good paint inside the door, then you are better off than the guy with rust inside the door, as the rust will turn to holes in the door much quicker after getting wet several times.
