perhaps it is a magneto horn--model T?, i know T magneto only cars had different horns and because it is AC no points are needed

Model T Mag horns are distinctive in shape and type of coils. There were other mag horn types made for motorcycles and other auto manufacturers.

On the subject of horn has anyone rewound a horn coil for 12 volts if so what size wire and how many turns for a 12 volt coil?

Half the wire area and twice the turns usually works.
