37 coupe package tray
Is there a difference in the 37 coupe package tray on the different models. Also do some coupes have a seat with a two piece back and others with a one piece.

Re: 37 coupe package tray
I have seen at least three different configurations of the package tray on 1937 Ford coupes. The first configuration is with a split back front seat and has a metal shelf between the two rear quarter windows. The second configuration is also with a split back front seat but it just has a straight wood shelf behind the seat. And the third configuration has the one piece back that pivots up to gain access to the area behind the seat. I will post some pictures tomorrow of the package trays on this model.

Re: 37 coupe package tray
There was a rear package tray in one piece for sure in 1920s ford Model A but in the 1930s there was also a front seat tray introduced - also in one piece. I know there are also two pieces models but I am sure Zeke knows more about that. I will also gladly see the pictures.

Re: 37 coupe package tray
Thank you for the pictures. I've been trying to locate a package tray for mine and wanted to make sure what I find is correct. Is the posture on the right the metal tray with upholstery over it.
Is the wood tray flat to the back window? |

Re: 37 coupe package tray
Beautiful interior Blindhuckster, hope I can get mine car close to that condition some day.
My car originally had the curved metal style package tray. The metal shelf drops down about six inches to a flat wooden shelf. There is a 10 inch tall metal panel below the rear window that attaches to a "L" shaped channel that forms the perimeter of the wooden package shelf, see attached photos. As I remember, the front of the wooden shelf was supported by wood framing from the floor, about where the step up is in the floor pan. Also attached is another photo showing the straight style of package tray for the split front seat. There appears to be a curtain that covers items stored in this area. |

Re: 37 coupe package tray
Some more pictures of the curved style package tray, thanks to John Jaeger for the photos.
I have heard that some coupes with the split back seat had the spare tire stored behind the front seat. I have not seen a car with this configuration yet. My car does not have any signs that there were ever any brackets for attaching the spare behind the front seat. |
