Re: grease
I have been using Stalube Boat wheel Bearing grease for a lot of years; it has a drop point of 400 degrees, stays in the bearings, does not melt like regular grease. I have never lost any front wheel bearings, and it is waterproof. Also use it in all grease fittings.
Just my opinion, Ron |

Re: grease
Lithium is not a favorite of mine. It dries up and shrinks back over time. many grease compounds have some lithium, not a problem. There was a thread in the last 3-4 days on grease for rear wheel bearings, the only place where fiberous grease is needed as far as I am aware. Every where else, most anything will do. Front wheel bearings should use drum brake grease (lower temperature) which is fine for the fittings on the rest of the chassis. Distributor cam, use vaseline since cam lube is hard to come by these days.

Re: grease
I like Mystik JT-6 High Temp red grease for everything that needs to be greased.
Being red you can tell the old grease from the new and it's easy to see when the wheel bearings need to be cleaned and repacked. It's high temp, so it doesn't melt out of hot places, like brake pins. It's sticky, so it clings to vital parts, such as gears and bearings. |

Re: grease
Also, John Deere Corn Head grease for the steering box unless you are lucky enough the 600W oil doesn't run out of it overnite , like ours does.

Re: grease
Tom,
Do you use the Mystik JT-6 #1 or #2 grease? This looks like a very good grease and I like the idea that it can be used for most everything that needs grease. Thanks Dave |

Re: grease
Don't forget the u-joint.
John Deere Cornhead grease. U-joint will spin the grease all around. Cornhead grease will settle back down (flow). |

Re: grease
You can get this grease from Napa, they may have to order it for you. I use it when packing front and rear wheel bearings.

Re: grease
I haven't noticed a number, but the tube has red color on it and the high temp grease is red. It's a nice sticky grease. Put some on your hands and try to wipe it off with a cloth or paper towel, and your hands will still feel greasy. Many other greases will wipe off and your hands will feel clean and dry.

Re: grease
For wheel bearings I use ONLY a Quality, high temp Disc Brake grease! ALL wheel bearing greases are NOT the same!!! DON'T use CHEEP S**T! I even use it on the CHASSIS stuff.
I "test" oils & greases by the "finger" test, if it feels GOOD, use it! Moly-Sulphide grease seems to work well also. LITHIUM grease seems to "dry" up. Bill Fussy
