Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Be safe out there. What I need is a big snow storm and then I will put the top down and take it out. Usually after a big snow storm we get really nice blue sky and warmer days. And the roads dry off quickly. I will put it on the list. |

Re: Hesitation when accelerating from stop - Holly 1901 carb
Removed the blanking plates under the heat risers, and that changes the sound of the engine. The carb is allot warmer to the touch too, ie: warmer gas going into the intake.
Changed the plugs to two steps colder. I had been using hotter plugs as a temporary fix for the over rich situation. The temp was in the high 60's today. The car seems to have more power and is smoother. Could be the higher air temp. To the point I found myself dong 70 in a 55 zone. (you have all seen the highway I use in the videos). Thing is, I wasn't passing anyone. The plugs look great. Temp is supposed to be in the 60's again tomorrow, so a few more test runs and then I think I can call it a day, for this tuning session. Thank you all again for you help. |

Turns out the vacuum advance was leaking. I think it was the original one that came with the car. Once replaced, it made a big difference in initial acceleration, higher speed acceleration and overall power.

Interesting. I should check mine. It is at least 50 years old. Possibly more.

Re: Hesitation when accelerating from stop - Holly 1901 carb
I just disconnected the line from the carb and put a rubber hose on the end of the line and sucked on the hose and used my tongue to stop the end. The arm would go back slowly.
