Odd question, but does anyone know the weight of a 10" pressure plate?

I would assume it would depend on the type. Might call Ft Wayne, they would ship them all the time

I found a Schiefer Long-style plate that weighs 18 lbs. Trying to figure out if it's lighter, heavier or the same as a stock one. Want to kept the clutch set up as light as possible to use with a Weber aluminum flywheel.

I was hoping someone has one and they could weight it for me.

My "original" out of my '47 weighs 21.8 lbs. That's using a flat bathroom digital scale, so no guarantees on the accuracy, but think this is close, Tim.

I would still consider calling Ft Wayne, they should be able to tell you the different options and weights.

There is also the Borg & Beck type if your running Mercury stuff. The cover by itself weight around 15.5 Lbs. The disc weighs about 4 Lbs on these. I don't know if the Schiefer flywheel would be drilled for the B&B with the 6 equally spaced bolt holes. They also use the next larger diameter bolts to hold them than the Long type does.

Every time a clutch cover is rebuilt, it will likely lose some weight when they resurface the pressure ring. Long types have the flyweights but the B&B doesn't so they are a bit lighter.

Thank you. Looking for a 10" or 10.5". Is the Mercury Borg & Beck style 9.5"?

If you are concerned about weight. the 9 inch is lighter.
Also, there were 9 inch versions made from aluminum and they show up on Ebay ocassionally. If you have the face of a 9 inch metal sprayed they will last quite awhile on the street.

The Mercury B&B is 10-inch but Pete is not out of place to mention the old 9-inch Long type. They will hold up to more than what folks give them credit for. On a light body car the 9-inch is not a bad choice as long as a person uses the original equipment parts and has them rebuilt by someplace like Ft Wayne clutch. The new repop stuff can be crap. Some don't have the flyweights and are more like the ones used in the 8N tractors. A lot of the old Ford tractors are still in use over in China. I think that is why so many parts have been available for them but with the trade war on some parts are getting back ordered indefinitely.

You can always use heavier springs to in the clutch to make it handle more power.
Surface of disc, Friction of disc material and springpressure sets what it can handle in power.
Going for a highfriction mtrl makes lifetime shorter..but for racing milage aint the goal...
As anything you can tweak it to fit your aplication...a good clutchrebuilder should be able to help you out.
