These are some my friend Bob Sweet had. Probably some of you remember Bob he lived in Dayton, Ohio and dealt in a lot of NOS Ford parts. Last I talked to him he was in Kingman, AZ. He said the nice coupe in photo one was Olds powered. The 32 was really a rusty car. The last one although not Ford was Olds powered also. Really an interesting guy! Haven't talked to him in a while hope he is still doing ok into his 90's!

I like the 5-window with the roll bar on the outside.

If more guys had built them that way, there'd be a lot more left!

I’ve been at this since age 14; now almost 75!
I used to spend Sunday’s walking the boneyards. I remember
Many 40-50’s cars being cannibalizes. It included many Tri-5 chevys including convertibles in the yard. Lots of 50-54 chevys. Many 283&327 engines as well as mopar hemi. They were pulled and kept inside.
I also remember unfriendly goats and more unfriendly copperheads that you had to watch out for!

About 30 years ago, there was a salvage yard on my way home from work. I'd stop occasionally to see if anything interesting had shown up. One time, he was busy burying a bunch of engines including a couple of dozen early hemis. Since I had one in my vintage dirt car, I asked if I could salvage some parts. I was mainly looing for the Bakelite spark plug insulators and the aluminum spark plug tubes.

He said "Nope, I'm almost done".

Same thing but these 4,000 beauties never hit the road. What happens when you overturn a 656' RORO ship in St Simons Sound , Georgia 2019. Somebody's Arse is in a sling. Nobody killed! Cut the ship into sections using a huge chain and barged to Louisiana.

What was the name of the ship? I'd like to look up the incedent. I am curious about the huge chain.

1955 Chevrolet blocks do not have oil filters. You could get an oil filter as a bolt-on accessory.

Follow this Google Street link.

https://www.google.com/maps/@-39.343...7i13312!8i6656

This is Horopito Motors just out of Ohakune, NZ, still in full operation and is my Go-To parts place for my '31 Chev and '37 Ford V8. They have a second hand inventory that has to be seen to be appreciated.
Started by the current owner's father back in the '30s.
Street view only shows a small amount of the cars that are parked there.

Well, that looks like a fun place ! Reminds me of an old yard in SoDak I used to go where they had sheep in the yard with the cars. It looked like a bunch of cars sitting on a golf coarse !

Well thanks guys. What a huge operation! And what an insurance claim! My dad was a marine insurance broker. He dealt mostly ships and cargos heading up to Alaska. He had some disaster tales to share at the dinner table now and then, but nothing like this.
