Still, might you explain what the issue(s) was with the Drake tank?

Re: 40/41 Pickup Fuel Tank ?
my experience with a drake purchased fuel tank was where the two pieces of the tank were welded together--there was about 1 to 1 1/2" of extra metal that had to be trimmed all around to get to the correct original size and the tank went right in. the owner of the truck worked for two days and was ready to send it back when he called me for help

I purchased one that's sold by Tanks Inc. I actually bought it on ebay. Went right in.

Re: 40/41 Pickup Fuel Tank ?
Issues with the tank were 3 of the 4 corners were bent & needed to be dollied flat & the drake sender would not line up correctly with the holes in the drake tank. And yes I know the sending unit only goes in one way. Also the mounting holes did not line up with the holes in the frame, total waste of my time.

Re: 40/41 Pickup Fuel Tank ?
Used a Drake tank for my '39. Fit with no issues BUT my truck does have a Studebaker bed on it so its hard to say how it would have fit with a stock bed. I did buy it on one of his Black Friday sales with free shipping and amazingly it was in stock! Used a Drake sending unit and it fit fine.

Re: 40/41 Pickup Fuel Tank ?
The passenger car and pickup gas tanks are not the same. The position of the inlet spout is different. Drake only sells the passenger car tank. You can use the passenger car tank by re-positioning the mounting holes on the frame so that the gas tank neck fits into the opening on the bed.
