Default 40 door hinges replacement

Has anyone replaced 1940 coupe door hinges with Bob Drake hinges? Bottom body hinge holes are drill wrong on my.

Need some clarification here. Are you wanting to use Drake hinges because the holes are wrong on yours or the body? Or do you already have Drake hinges and the holes are wrong in the Drake hinges?

Did a search as I'm at the point of no return on my driver's side bottom hinge. Was hoping it was the hinge that is sprung and not the door needed work. Right side is a nice closing door but the left binds about a foot before closing. You can see the bottom hinge area of the door has been tweaked a little. With the safety latch on it will open further than the right side - which is going past the cowl.

Also was needing opinion of who makes the best replacement hinges ?

If your hinge is in overall good condition, do not replace it.


Acquire a 3 ft length of 9/32 drill rod (O-1 tool steel at McMaster-Carr). Use this to determine that the upper and lower hinges are on the same axle. The binding you describe sounds like they are not.
