Default 1935 Ford Oil leak in front

I have a friend with a 35 ford Tudor.. It is leaking oil Front Passengerside when it is running.. Is that a breather in the front corner of the oil pan.. Theres a slot there and it drips oil out when it is running.. I have not worked on the older Flatheads so this is a new one.. I was thinking he may have put too much oil in but thought I would check with you Experts THANKS
Randy L Peterson..

The breather on the earlier Fords was on the front passengers side. I am a little hesitant because so many parts get changed over the years.

He just bought the Car last Fall and hasnt had it running too long.. Its all painted so I dont know if it has been overhauled or just a Painted engine.. It runs nice and is quiet.. Just from my opinion of looking at the Pan and the engine I believe it has been apart. Head gaskets look like they have been replaced.. Other then what I can see there is no history of the car.. It was purchased at the VanderPol Auction in South Dakota this Fall.
Wish I had more info..

There is a plug that caps the lifter galley oil tube at the front just behind the cam timing gear. If that plug is not sealing, you can get a lot of leakage out the pan breather port.

If oil is dripping out of the breather on the right front of the pan there is 2 causes, The breather pipe under the front of the intake manifold has been left out or, the wrong pan gasket has been installed. It may have a 33-34 pan gasket, it won't seal that breather. Walt

This happened to me, it was the wrong pan gasket. It is easy to put on wrong gasket as they look very much alike, one is for vented pan & the other is for non vented.

Thanks for the Input.. Sounds like we are gonna have to do a little digging.. I am going to put a kit in the Carburator.. I think that would be a good time to pull the intake and see if the breather is there.. Then I guess its pull the oil pan time.. That looks like a while ball of fun . But I guess thats the fun of owning an old car LOL

You can tell if it has the breather tube without taking off the intake or pulling the pan. In the front of the engine are two indentions . Stick your finger in each. If the one on the driver's side is deep and the other is shallow, that is because there is a breather tube there. Or, look at the underside of the engine, on the driver's side. Is there a triangular "box" on the front of the oil pan? If so, should be a breather tube there.

I also just noticed oil dripping from the vent on the pan. I have a 33-34 block with a vented pan. (Fresh rebuild) How are the two pan gaskets different?
Confused...
I guess pictures of the two gaskets would help.

The vented gasket has a triangle added to the front corner and the other is just the shape of the bolt rail 0r edge of the pan. Hope this is clear enough. When you see the gasket for a vented pan it is very obvious.

If you take the time to look at your own thread on this same subject I posted a pic of a 35 pan next to a 33-34 pan . The gaskets look just like the pans .
