Re: 39 ford convertible value
Nice car.
I agree with skidmarks, perfect as a nice driver..a full quality restoration along with acquisition costs would exceed its worth.

Re: 39 ford convertible value
That 36 posted in reply #31, looks to be a steal at listed price, not original, but with improvements...Columbia OD? newer engine(more HP), etc. Here is wishing my piggy bank were fuller and not spent on builders.

Re: 39 ford convertible value
My thoughts exactly. It's making me look at my '38 coupe that I've nickeled and dimed up to that same money and say, wish I could trade Wonder if it has a floor?

Re: 39 ford convertible value
Looks like a very good car indeed, should be well north of 20K. It is the sort of thing a buyer who wants that particular 39 model will jump for.

Re: 39 ford convertible value
I hope my neighbor gets what they want for the 39, I had asked her about another of their cars many yrs. ago. They have now decided to sell just two. The 39 and a 67 convertible caddy. I really like 35 coupes, if it had been a 35 I would have been hard pressed to pass on it.

Looks good. Get it running right and cleaned up and enjoy.
Yes, the sealed beams have to go. Good luck. |

Re: 39 ford convertible value
Have had more 39 convertibles than I think anyone else. I have 3 cabriolets
and a convertible sedan. I wouldn't guess at a price unless I inspected the car. A number of years ago I sold one at Hershey for $100,000.00 I have owned 8 39 cabriolets. KGS has a pretty good handle on 39 prices. G.M.

But whats the $100,000 car worth today? With every sunset there are less people interested in early fords and the cost to restore one keeps going up. |

Re: 39 ford convertible value
Without looking at the car in person, it's almost impossible to see what
the bottom side is like. But from the pictures shown, it looks like a pretty decent body. '39 converts have the short top, which I think looks the best. $20,000 would be a real bargain, especially if it runs & drives. .

Re: 39 ford convertible value
So does anyone make complete replacement floor panels for 39’s like this? I’ve looked at a few over the past 5-6 months and 90% seem to be pretty bad where the owner has just “stuck“ (mostly with dirt dauber welding!) a replacement panel over a very rusted out floor. And they all seem to want north of 23-25K for them. Also, it looks like this one has a black dash, is that indicative of a woodgrain paintover in a deluxe? And as long as I’m asking, 2-3 of the cars I’ve looked at had severe door fitment issues to the point that current or previous owners have actually moved the latch on the frame so far inward that it was welded there and the door STILL didn’t match up with the body line when closed. Are doors/hinges a problem with adjustment and fitment or are the examples I’m seeing the exception rather than the rule....
Sorry if this/these questions should be in their own thread....looking for some answers before I buy a 39 Deluxe convertible and start a restoration, I’m currently a T guy who’s completed 2, a 39 Plymouth P8 and a 66 Chevy pickup. So patch panels don’t really bother me.... |

Throughout the years I have found that the workmanship on most old cars leaves much to be desired, following a budget, which is a nice way to say "cheap".. Feel free to contact me if I can be of any help to you...
