We were out of town this weekend, just got home about an hour ago only to find the '39 CS with an almost flat left rear tire... Looks like I know what fun I'll have in the morning.

Once again, all is right with the world... I got the tire back sans the tube and it is holding air (so far)

Lawson, I'm always being accused of letting hot air go so... I'm pleased that at least the tire is holding air...LOL See you in Dawsonville.

Apparel Update

In an earlier post I put up a photo of our (work in progress logo) for the Cigar City Flatheads.

Subsequently I received a number of requests for T-Shirts, etc. with the logo printed on them so; I decided to explore the possibility of having T-Shirts made. In order to keep the cost per T-Shirt reasonable (around $20.00) I would have to order a large quantity and, unfortunately, the number of request did not meet the minimum order requirement.

I’ve got the names, etc. of all who responded so, if you’d like to be bedecked in sartorial splendor at your next car show, let me know. As soon as we reach the minimum requirement to order, I’ll put everything in motion. You can email me at: [email protected]. Don't forget to include your size and the number of T-Shirts you'd like.

Thanks,

Vic

Finally, this Saturday, we'll be gettin' back to messin' with Flatheads in preparation for the drive up to Dawsonville, Georgia for the Mountain "Barner's Bash" and the Moonshine Festival in late October. We'll be working on Steve's '46, Mike's '41 and our '39, making final adjustments, changing the oil, topping off the transmissions and rear ends and greasing the suspensions. Sounds like fun.

I sure hope we see a lot of "Barner's" in Dawsonville.

A lot of action around the garage today… Steve got called away on business and Mike had some conflicts as well but Don came over with a friend’s son, fourteen year old Nick, the newest member of the Cigar City Flatheads…

We worked on the '39 CS, packed the front wheel bearings with grease and changed the oil.

My friend Milt showed up in his '23 "T" Touring Car and gave Nick & Me a ride

Nick got behind the wheel…

Our new garage doors (finally) are being installed on the house.

All in all another Flathead fun filled day.

I thought some of you might enjoy this. My Nephew's wife sent this photo of their 18 month old son behind the wheel of his Petal Car... Another Cigar City Flatheader in the making...

Here's a shout out in support of using local venders instead of national chains for things like garage doors. After the (eighteen week, three wrong deliveries mess) I went through with Lowes, I contacted three local dealer/installers. One came back with the same brand/style doors I have on the stand alone garage, he told me it would be three weeks and the cost was $3,000.00 less then Lowes for equal quality insulated doors. Well, two and a half weeks and the (correct doors) came in and were installed yesterday.

It's a real pleasure doing business with people that appreciate your business. I am through dealing with Lowes & Home Depot; from now on I'll work with local businesses.

I've lived in a lot of different places and have always had good results dealing with local firms. They care about both their customers and their reputations. Especially in smaller communities, a business person can't survive with a bad reputation. Nice doors, too.

Henry, thanks for the complement on the doors. I agree with your assessment of "local business", as I said, from now on I'll be dealing locally, no more Lowes or Home Depot for me.

Yup, the doors are looking good. The "Stude" will be safe inside. Those places are only good for commodity items. They don't do well when requested to do something a little different. Good on you for going with a local business.

Doors look great Vic, and one big item you don't have to worry about anymore. Looks like you finally had some ambitious help over the weekend, very neat. Don't teach him any bad habits tho (as if you had any).

Thanks Jeff, I'm sure glad to have the doors. All my habits are bad according to most... This Saturday I'm expecting Steve & Mike to come over so we can do a few things to their cars to make them ready for the trip up to Dawsonville, sure would like to have you join us. Vic

May do just that ...don't know if Momma has plans for weekend, and need to adjust brakes on Amos before a little road trip (75 miles in Amos is a road trip Vic) but I'll let you know. In the meantime stay out of trouble if you can

Jeff, It would be super if you could join us for the trip (I do need a calming influence to keep me out of trouble ) I've got to go a day early to get some stuff done with my mom so I'll be driving the '39 CS up on Wednesday the 24th. As it stands right now, Steve & Mike will be driving up on Thursday and Cliff will most likely ride with them. If you can make it up to my house this Saturday, Steve, Mike & Cliff should be here and we can work out the details. Vic
