New York's East River?...Model A era...
After watching the History Channel the other day on Gangsters and Enemy #1...There was a part where Mayor LeGordia (Spelling), I think, was seen throwing all sorts of gambling items such as slot machines and guns into the East River from a boat just loaded with this stuff...Has there ever been any diving expeditions where some of these artifacts have been recovered and on display in any New York museums?

Hi Pluck! That was Mayor LaGuardia, and he also doomed the Third Avenue Railway in the Big apple.

Steve,
East River or Long Island Sound, take your pick, was the final resting place of the back half of a 1929 Town Car body. A local Long Island pond was reportedly 'bottomless' and swallowed an entire Model T. "All cars have a story. If yours doesn't, make one up. " |

Re: New York's East River?...Model A era...
The rumor of the bottomless pond the swallowed a Model T when the ice broke is Lake Success in Great Neck. It was once surrounded by William K. Vanderbilt's Estate. In my youth, Lake Success was my swimming hole and fishing spot. The lake does have a bottom and there is no Model T in it.
Unfortunately, the land around the lake was developed, so what was once forest is now yuk! Lake Ronkonoma has similar rumors re being bottomless with a sunken Model T.
