Default Haven't seen this on Ford Barn yet.

Ford Barners:

i just received an E mail, with photos, about a Canadian 1947 Ford P/U which was sold to FOMOCO for $800,000.00. Plus a new dually pick up.

If anyone can post it on Ford barn I'll forward it to them. E mail me at [email protected]

I fell for it! Anything is possible in this 'ol world.....LOL. Example: I was watching Barret-Jackson Auctioneers on the tube one Saturday. A
1967, Chevelle SS I believe, was being auctioned at the time. It was a street/strip car with all the documents you could dream of and then some.
When the bidding went above -$900,000.00- I about puked, then turned the idiot box off...........

Having been to Barrett-Jackson twice, I'm constantly amazed by how much some folks want to pay for some of those cars. But, there are indeed bagains to be had at BJ...but they don't go across the block during prime time TV viewing hours. Most of the bargains are sold first thing in the morning, and right on up until lunch time. During primetime TV hours, the big-money cars are all slated to be sold...and that's what brings out the big-money people.

I've found BK auctions are sort of a "happening" thing...lots of retired big-money guys...you know the type...gold chains around their necks, shirts unbuttoned to the waist, and exotic skin cowboy boots, and bottles of viagra in ther designer jeans....most with 22 year-old blonde trophy wives and/or girfriends, all dressed like trollops, and all hangin' out of their tops. Truthfully, you can't believe some of the get ups some of these women wear. Bottom line is it's a spectacle to go visit with lots of eye candy for all to see, but it's a joke insofar as real car enthusiasts go. Most of the big-money bidders never turned a wrench in their lives, but know how and where to go hire someone who can.

All this in my opinion, of course...

Thom,
About a month ago a friend on the hamb side sent me email pics and the 'story' of how this truck was purchased by FORD DEALERSHIP of FOMOCO.
My immediate response was...well (IF TRUE) now we know where the money resides and why the auto industry is in such a state in this economy! Well, I told him that the whole thing smelled to high heaven and was unbelieveable. I was basing my opinion on the very good pics of the involved vehicle(truck), as I was looking for 24carat gold somewhere/anywhere!!

It's TV and not real. BS I mean BJ gets money from the channels that show the auction and this money "pays" for the phony bidding you see.

I went to BJ web site. They list the cars on the auction. There are some old Fords but not very many. I guess there are a couple of auctions going on in Scottsdale the same time as BJ. A friend said he went and there seemed to be some ghost bidders. He did not think it was completely honest. He said the girl bid getter smells pretty nice and actually worked on his friend and his friend bought a car for way too much and he did not even like the car.

I guess you will see a car at one auction and the next day you will see the same car at another auction in Scottsdale. I think there might be some fast buck artists besides BJ.

I would rather buy an old flat head Ford with a private treaty.I never did get into muscle cars.

I like to watch the auction on TV.
