Default ot........ Some things that should never be done to Old vehicles

I was sitting this week with my two Sons. I have two vintage pickup trucks and right now I struggle with Bone Cancer. I know sooner than Later the trucks will be there's.

I just told them that I have one request.

Then I started thinking of things that should not be done to Vintage vehicles........I know gone are the days of great Vintage Car Shows and Cruise Nights but I said to my boys........

My big request was.........

Vintage Pickup Trucks should never have Bucket Seats...........

My sons finally agreed with me. They had some other ideas as well but I thought I would see what the Ford Nation has too say.

Happy Holidays to All

A low back bucket that fits doesn't bother me. The high back captins chairs thats another story. As long as nothing is butcherd and it can be put back to stock. My 40 pu has the stock seat.

Never put a Chevy engine in a Ford car or truck. When I'm at a car show and see an old Ford with a Chevy engine, I just walk on to the next car. This is a real pet peeve of mine.

When my dad gave me my '41 pickup I had visions of chopped and fattened. He made me promise I wouldn't. I didn't.

I try to be flexible on a few mods or "improvements to the old vehicle. Like the 70s vintage captains chair buckets that a previous owner installed in my 1953 IH truck. It might not look authentic but at this stage of the game I appreciate the comfort of those big buckets.
One thing that bothers me most of all is seeing an older classic or custom vehicle to which someone has added those huge diameter wheels and "rubber band " tires that seem so popular these days. Not for me.

Ralph - '53 IH ? L or R series? We have a '50 L110 short bed. Those trucks were well built.
Interesting to see various themes in cars, I did not like the look of the 80's /90's, 'resto mods' all one color, bumpers included. See them for sale now. If you want to make your '46 Ford look like an AMG Mercedes..

Its an R160. I call it a 53 but it could be a 52 as well. You can see the seats and a lot more of the truck in this video I made a couple of years ago. I hope you Ford guys won't mind me posting the link to my International truck video.

Vintage pickups should never be painted neon anything.

I agree on the " big wheels" thing, looks so out of place on any old car or truck. Reminds me of them Hot Wheels cars.

Why does everyone want to re invent the wheel? When all is said and done it is still round, but may not roll as well.

Old trucks should never have their fenders removed. I can't think of too many things that look dumber than an old truck running around with no fenders. It looks like someone wrecked it.

I like mine very close to the way Henry made'em as you can see in my avatar. Do have a hopped-up flathead in it.

Any aftermarket rim dates a vehicle after a few years. Stock always looks good.

I agree , they should have a bench seat but then I think all trucks should have a bench seat.

My pops might have put a sbc in a car. He was a practical hotrodder.

I think whatever they do they will do, but ultimately its about enjoying something you enjoyed and however they enjoy it. It's a good thing. Nothing better. Imy bet is they keep it they way you have it or make it even better.

Not a fan of buckets in a truck either.
