About 20+ years ago, when it was still on the grass in Hershey Park, I had just starting walking the rows early in the morning when I came upon a vendor just setting up his tables. He put 2 unrestored oogah horns on the table - one being a Model A Ames horn. I casually asked him what the price was for the 'A' horn expecting a hundred dollar price on it give or take - "$10 each" he said and my jaw just about dropped off. In fact I had to ask a second time - thought I'd misheard him - he said a second time "$10 each, I just want to get rid of them." Needless to say I hastily purchsed it. It was unrestored with the well weather worn original black paint still on it, no dents or dings and minimal rust. It was just being at the right place at the right time !

I Haven't found anything like that since although I did find a small non A Sparton oogah horn for $5 last year which I'm going to put on my riding mower when I get it working.

and you didn't buy the 2nd one for $10. ? just kidding-great deal!

A couple years back I landed a mostly complete cabriolet body with top and seats for 850.!
Same deal, the guy just drove up. Thought I'ld dyed and gone to heaven-still think that.
The chase or find is often more fun then the working on it.... that's why so many projects sit I believe.

Thumbs up Re: Best Hershey finds.... 2012

My bud at Hershey yesterday found a NOS 10 pack of C-4 Champion plugs
for -$65-. He bought them and wanted to know if he got a good deal?!? I told him there are clowns on eBay trying to sale '4' of them for -$65-! I kept asking him that I would like to have 4 of them, but he wouldn't answer me..........

I had a nice day, got my exercise, the weather was kind, a little light dizzle for a short period then the sun came out, I was in a t-shirt in the afternoon. I pick up everything on my list and a few things not. Best deal was a beautiful, complete Marval carb. for Model A, $10. The guy did not know what it fit.

Sorry, but the one and only time I was able to go to Hershey, I came away with a pair of headlight buckets complete for $30. I just have to get a new lens for one. I just remember that and the fact I could not run through all of the fields fast enough to see everything it is so big.

Back, sometime, in the 70s, I found two NOS '28-9 Roadster/Phaeton rear-view mirror brackets, in the box, for $5.00 ea. I sure wish that I could go back to see what I did NOT but from him.

Back in the late 60s and early 70s, the hobby was much different. In general, people did not buy parts, unless they were going to use them on their own cars. I needed a R/V mirror for my roadster. I guess I thought that it wouldn't hurt to have a spare.

Original lower panel under the trunk lid on a Roadster with the inner panel, $37.00. Sold inner panel for $32.00, so I have a better panel now for $2.00. If the old panel sells this Roadster will continue to make me money. Bob

I was lucky Tuesday morning and spotted this Ford sign with the original bracket. Then the Ford script stuff just flowed. I love the dealership Emergency Kit vending case...$30. It holds 12 retail size kits and I got one of those. The tire kit ..$30,and polish are really cool, and the script fanbelt for $5 ! A decent $5 tool pouch, script brush and rubber, also some headlite stainless for $1, a $2 nice OS handle and a $4 terminal box. Then at pack-up, I grabbed a coupe/roadster fender on a $1 tarp.Prices were extremely reasonable IMHO.

Dollar fender...they were loading up to leave and dumped a bunch of stuff on a tarp with a one dollar sign for anything on tarp. It was perfect timing. I have worked with worse fenders.

What a great set of wares! I am absolutely envious of the emergency kit holder and the body polish can.

Mike, are you sure they are for Model A's. They look just like the used units I have on 26-27 windshield, on open cars. Also, those style of boxes were used for the late Model T Parts.

The Model A Ford parts boxes were redesigned when the Model A's came out. Normally, the Model A parts boxes have Model A on them, along with the A parts number.

Just wondering

Herm.

My mirror brackets are pictured in the "A" Judging Standards, on page 10-7. They are Style "G", which were used from the Introduction - through Mid 1928. They are very early 1928 brackets. They could have been a carry over from the "T". The Judging Standards doesn't go into that.
