how to mount 1948-52 F-1 cab on the frame

Does any one have a photo or two on how they mounted their F-1 cab on the orignal frame. The cabs are very heavy. Did they pick it up with say 4 strong guys or did they maybe place STRAPS under the cab and drop it down or could you place a strap with the windows and lift the body that way. Any help or suggestions appreciated tom

Gosh, I can't imagine it's too heavy. Of course, I suppose "too heavy" is relative.
Put a cab on a '40 two years ago. Easy peasy - two guys.
Dropped a '40 coupe body on the chassis just two days ago - four guys.

I'd say if your cab is pretty, keep straps, etc. away from the paint. Get a friend or two that you can trust to be careful and lift...

A cab would be heavy if it still had all the components inside. If you remove the seat, fuel tank, dash, and doors along with all glass and the floor plate, they get a lot lighter. Make sure it's completely free from the frame and the steering column & box is removed. The shift lever would also have to be out of the way

A field expedient H frame can be constructed from appropriate wood or metal pieces to have something to use with straps in order to pick it up by cradling the bottom and utilizing an overhead hoist above the cab to lift it. I would hate to deform the roof. They can be difficult enough to repair without making things worse.

If you lift it with straps thru the doors or without the doors be sure to use wood blocks or rubber pads, etc. to keep the straps away from the rain gutters so as to not crush them.

2x8 run through the window opening or door opening, depending on how complete the cab is, with little 45 degrees blocks attached to catch the inside of cab and outside of door, padded with towels or rags works real good if you have any sort of lifting device like chain hoist or tractor. Some eyelets near the end to connect lifting straps to and boom, your done. Dont cheap out on the eyelets, you dont want them coming undone. Dont cheap out on the straps either. You can even space the 45 degree blocks on the 2x8 so that it keeps the 2x8 centered in the middle of the door or door opening. You dont want it tilting or slipping on you mid lift. Kind of a poor man's way to replicate lift mech on the assembly line...
