Are you looking for the hot air type or the hot water type?

Here's an OEM 40 Hot Water Heater.
I painted it Mandarin Maroon, like the dash, instead of silver.

Here's the correct OEM painted heater.

Try Larry Caplan 19401 Clymer St. Northridge, Ca. 91326 818 366 9178 He may have what you want. He works on heaters and has a good supply. It has been some years since I dealt with him but he did good work.
Let me know if tou contact him.

If it's a 39/40 hot water heater you are after make sure it only has the 2 doors.
3 doors are for the later model cars.
Both they and the hot air models come up on ebay from time to time.
Prices for both types seem to run around $300 - $450.
There are a lot more parts to the hot air heater.

Thanks! That is the place where my 46 heater is. My 40 does not have a heater but the previous owner put the fuse box where the heater belongs. What I have for the Fordy is a Zephyr model Tropic Aire. Is there templates to be had for that heater. And does anyone have info of the Tropic Aire being used in a 40? MY 46 circulates through the driver side bottom radiator hose and the passenger side head. Is a stock 40 Ford set-up like this?

Make your own template out of card board. I used the very Tropic air heater you have in a 46 Ford. It in my opinion Tropic Air is a better heater than a normal one that they put into Fords. Much better defroster.

I'm pretty sure the heaters were normally plumbed to one side, passenger side bottom hose or pump, passenger side head.
I do like the idea of how yours flows, would maybe help normalize the cooling differences from each side of the cooling system that most report.?
Martin.
