Thumbs down Minnesota Heat Wave Time!

Does anybody else hate heat waves? I don't like doing work on anything in the heat and humidity, and during my summers, i love to work on cars and do work outside... but when it is like, 100 degrees and humidity is 100%, I throw in the towel. Is anyone else like this?? Where I'm at, you can drink the damn air!

I hear you.......when I lived in Sioux City, Ia it took me 2 years to adjust to the 95 degree and 95% humidity weather.
I worked on several cars through some of those summer months in a one car garage. I never sweated so much in all my life!
It zapps your strength real quick.

It gets pretty warm at times here in Conn. and we get high humidity all summer. We are over 90 today and it's the 3rd day of it. I hate doing anything in this heat. I get my best work done in April thru early June and after mid September. Today I was building a large shed for my brother and we quit before 12 noon. Too much for this old duffer ( kids name for me )

For me it’s just another day in paradise, you can keep the snow and wet cold weather, I did that long enough, I’m into Flatheads in Florida

A heat wave is what we have here near Houston from April 15 - October 1 every year. Highs around 93 most days and 100% humidity. You get used to it. But I can't get used to the 100+ weather we have sometimes like about a week ago. Still, I go on about restoring my 36 anyway. BTW, I have an air conditioned 12 x 40 shop but still do most work in the garage.

Here you just have to get use to it. It starts early and ends late. No spring or no fall. Last year we did not even have a winter. Just keep drinking water and lots of it. Heats a killer and it sneaks up on you. Seen it happen way to many times.

the reason why i hate it is because we have super cold winters, then really hot summers. i cant adjust that quick. hahaha!

Here in Phoenix,Arizona we have a dry heat this time of year like today 110 is common with 8% humidity readings still this sucks if you touch anything metal it hurts bad.Thankfully this only is from about June through early September then it is great weather. No snow to shovel,no floods, hurricanes or tornadoes trying to kill you and wipe out your property the scariest thing is the summer electric bill from the A/C,I grew up in Minnesota and Illinois and don't miss the weather one bit.Would like to make it to the Twin Cities for a Carbones Pizza which is on my bucket list and wash it down with a Grain Belt.

Hi Josh,
Yes, it is hard to work in high heat and humidity. I try to get out to the shop early here in Vermont this time of year. I'm usually out there by now... uh oh it's almost 5:30... I should have been out there by 5:00. Well, hang in there. My mentor, Ken Bailey used to say if you get one bolt done a day that's progress and it will take whatever time it takes. Just think about it, 2 bolts for Ken CT and remove a fuel line. You can do that standing on your head. He might sound crabby to you, but he's a generous and knowledgeable man who is really trying to steer you in the right direction. He really needs that fuel pump core to rebuild and help somebody else. Keep drinking water and turn a few wrenches. Best wishes, Toby

Just the opposite, I love "heat waves" and "cold snap's" HVA/C&R equipment is gonna fail and this when it does. The down side is I don't get much done on my restoration working so much

When I was your age growing up in Virginia, there was this new drink for hydration called "Gatorade". Drink-up

Even though I make good money when called out, I hate being on call like this. Time is worth way more than the money. I'll take the time over the money any day. Also interferes with life--i.e. Yeah, I made $300 on that call out, but I missed (fill in important family event here).

I'm in Wisconsin about 50 miles east of Coon Rapids. Hot here too. If I have a big project going I'm on it by 5:00am. You should hit some garage sales and buy yourself a big box fan. You'd be surprised how much better you will feel with some wind blowing on you, even if you are outside. If you don't have a big tree to get some shade you could also go out and buy a cheap canopy or even a big plastic tarp and make up some poles to make some shade to get under. Take a look at some of the pictures of guys setups at the Bonneville Salt Flats in august. It doesn't get much hotter than on the white salt and they do it for a week straight. Good Luck and don't let the heat bog you down. Don

Hey Vic, I know what you mean. It hit 90 here yesterday on the sweltering east coast of Florida, with an ocean breeze. Rarely do we ever see triple digets like up north. Gotta love it. But honestly I would like to make it to mountains this summer.

Hi Lee, why don't you plan on coming up to the Moonshine Festival/Mountain "Barner's Bash" at Dawsonville in October...
