A friend of mine emailed me a wiring schematic for the '47 Lincoln Continental overdrive. It looks like the two green wires I was talking about do in fact go to the coil... Again, I learn something new every day... At lunch time, I'll hook up the wires, check the fuse, go for a ride and see if she will shift into overdrive...

Hi Vic. If the overdrive works, I would recommend to the owner a road trip to Dawsonville. Good luck and look forward to hearing the test results. Steve

This has absolutely nothing to do with Flatheads so I hope you'll indulge my exuberance... I know some of you will appreciate this. It looks like I'll become a Grandfather, for the first time, next Tuesday...I'm excited!

Congradulations Vic. Maybe you can get the little one started on your Lincolns. My grand daughter still remembrs her first ride in my 47 coupe at Christmas time in Bradenton Florida.

Thanks Marv. I told my daughter I'd take the baby to the Moonshine Festival for his first "car show"... He'll be a little over a month old, I think that's soon enough to introduce him to Flatheads...

What to do Between Rain Storms

Today, after numerous delays, the correct garage door got installed, giving me a functional additional two car garage.

I've been waiting for the door to be installed before I pulled the coil and distributor out of the '47 LC because I needed to park it in a space that wouldn't prevent me from moving other cars/trucks on and off the lift... No matter how much space you have, there's always something in the way...

Among its other problems, the ’47 LC has an Optima 6 volt battery that is ready for the junk pile… I think I’ll pick up a traditional “wet” 6 volt battery this week, so when the coil and distributor come back, we’ll be able to start (pun intended) fresh.

I thought I’d let the ’39 LZ keep the ’47 LC company in the garage…

I knew it would rain because early this morning I put the top down on the '39 CS...

Maybe I'll be able to take both '39's out for a nice cruise in the sunshine tomorrow and Monday. I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy thier Flatheads this weekend.

Sunday Morning Sunshine.

No rain this morning so, I pulled the '39 CS out of the garage to go for a ride, and pick up a few things at the local auto parts store... No sooner did I get her out on the road then she started to kick and sputter, like intermittent fuel flow... after a minute or so she smoothed out and ran fine. I'm wondering if all the rain yesterday (even though she was not out in it) could have had a negative effect on the condenser, etc.? After that fun, I thought I'd give our '47 Convertible some road time...

Wouldn't ya know it... after about 20 minutes out on the road she started throwing water... I turned around and drove her home, checked under the hood and found water all over the firewall, etc. I'll have to let everything cool down before I can investigate to see where the water is leaking... I can't really complain as I got the '47 in '95 and the only thing I've done to the cooling system is flush it and install new upper and lower hoses, and that was a while ago... I should mention that I’ve only put 144,000 miles on that car in the last 18 years… So, not too bad…

Hi Vic. Sorry to hear of the circumstances but glad you were able to get her home. Hopefully it's something painless like a heater hose or water pump. BTW, were you able to get the OD working on the 47 Lincoln? Steve
