Towing weight
Just a quick question here...
We have a 1930 Fordor... Totally stock... Does anyone know what the maximum allowable towing weight would be for pulling a trailer with the Fordor?? Thanks ahead of time, Dana Hall |

Re: Towing weight
I've never pulled a trailer w/ a model A, but from just general experience, I'd try to keep it as light as possible.
Getting it going is not going to be the problem, but getting it stopped in modern traffic just might be. Good Luck |

Re: Towing weight
I completely agree with Rex. This might be the one occasion I would be looking at Hydraulic brakes. The A might be able to pull 1000 IBS, but stopping could be a nightmare............

Re: Towing weight
Maximum allowable vs safe limit - stick with as light as possible and ensure your brakes are in really good shape! Stay safe out there!

Re: Towing weight
I pull a trailer with a total weight at 750 kilo,no problem pulling and no problem stopping as the trailer has brakes also

Re: Towing weight
Agree with that only over here, I doubt the authorities would allow a Model A to tow anything because they haven't been approved to do it. Police State!

Re: Towing weight
My trailer has surge brakes.
I also tow a little open trailer without brakes,max.400 kgs works also fine but you have to have good brakes on the A
