Fellers, please excuse my ignorance, but what parts were originally wood grained, what today gets wood grained and what was the standard wood grain color for a Model A. For some strange reason I like the look which must be from my thirty years of living and working in the "everything will be painted gray" Navy.

Skibb, it depends on the Model A; the Victoria has 13 pieces that are wood grained in a mahogany pattern, the A400 has fewer and in a burl pattern and so on & so forth. My roadster has no wood grain anywhere. The Judging Standards have all the info.

Skibb, The Model A's used a stipple mahogany pattern on all.
28,29 were brush finished and 30,31 used the graining plates

Felix37, the mahogany woodgraining was used on '29-31 Town Sedans, 30-31 Deluxe Coupes & Fordors, 31 Deluxe Tudors, 30-31 Cabriolets, Slant windshield Town Sedans, Deluxe Fordors, Victorias and Mid 30-31 AA Deluxe (275A).
Walnut woodgraining was found on the late 29 Town Sedan by Murray (optional) and on the 31 Slant Windshield Cabriolet and the 31 Convertible Sedan. All of this is according to the Model A Judging Standards & Restoration Guidelines.

All others were either body color, black, maroon or gray, depending on the body type.

That being said, the work shown in your video is great.

Even this old okie can do it. There are a number of shots in this pictorial using Grain it's process. The oil base is the only way to go. Great folks to work with too.

Thanks for this post Felix37. I'm working on a '30 and wasn't yet sure how I was going to tackle the dashboard. I'm in the Atlanta area and will most likely pay you a visit in the not too distant future with my dashboard in tow!

I went to Honest Charley's home page to check out the pricing on this service, but couldn't find anything about wood grain service there.

I searched the web page, but no joy.

My 31 has a very home-hacked job. Paint is very thick and all the brush strokes show.

Robert, They have not put it on the web site yet. We have just done the video with an e mail address for info. Please give me a call at 870-847-1921 and I can give you a price. I will also send out a sample of the proper grain and base color for your car.
