Smile 6 volt ignition coil failures.

Have installed an electronic ignition system as per instructions on a 1930 model A.
Unit runs well for a few days but eventually the main coil fails.
Replaced coil twice with same results--uhm!
Just beginning to trouble shoot --any ideas for me.
Thx again all.

You can't use a stock coil on an electronic ignition.
Have you gone thru all your electrical connections yet, including grounds?
Have you tried contacting the manufacturer, for technical help?

if you would have left the original ignition set up in your car you wouldn't have to be on here asking for help, ditch the after market junk and put the original dist set up back on the engine, other than a bragging point I can see no reason to put that junk on the car

What electronic ign unit are you using? There are many in use so it is not the fact that it is an electronic ignition. I think you have it installed incorrectly.

We had a club member that had one and we never could get it to work right so he went back to stock.

Fewer parts makes for easier resolution of problems --generally speaking.

Hope you get it working and become the expert on it, because, if it fails on the road, no one can help you.

Do you think he'll REALLY change his mind? Most of us rarely change our minds & WHATEVER we have on OUR cars, is the "CATS' MEOW! or The Dogs' BARK!

Despite personal opinions, if we knew what model you had we could go over the installation instructions/schematic and see where the problem could be.

So please if you really want some help;

What brand
What voltage
What polarity is the car (where do you have the ground wire attached)?
What ignition switch do you have?
