yes new timing chain and gears
i set timing by vacuum engine runs best but light shows 20-25
ill do piston stop when i get a chance
i have another intake just have to make time

The FYB timing setup is different from other engines. Did you install according to correct SHOP MANUAL?

The timing chain gear alignment procedure for the y-block is like no other engine. It's easy to get the cam out of time if it's not just right.

Another FYI is the ignition systems were originally mated to the type of carburetor. You mention a 1959 distributor. What type of carb are you running with that?
