'34 gas tank baffles
A friend has problem with gas slopping out of the tank on his '34 5 window with an 11 gallon tank. He usually can't put more than 7 gallons in it. I looked at the '34 tank I have and It doesn't have any baffles except cross wise in the tank. Is there a solution to this problem ? Thank you.

Re: '34 gas tank baffles
Your friend and several hundred other 33-34 Ford owners.
Solution... redesign the 34 tank (or put a potato in the filler "neck").

Re: '34 gas tank baffles
Make sure the gas cap is Not vented. The vent is on the hydrostatic fuel sender.

I have an electrical gauge and sender. I rigged a vent at the sender. I then use a very tight fitting cap with a good quality rubber seal. I have baffles in the neck and modified the cap but these didn't work. Only moving the vent and fitting the tight cap did the trick. I don't know if the baffles and cap mod help in some way, though as I have not tried the cap and vent alone without the baffles and cap mod. Mart. |
