Default Merc Then and Now

I put together a combination shot of the Merc parked on the same spot in 1961 and an up to date one yesterday. Camera angle was a little off as the house did not show in the earlier 1961 shot. My uncle's 53 Pontiac in the background. That might be me in the back seat of the Merc. I'd have been 7 years old.

Neat Ralph. I have the sweater I wore from my high school pictures. Not sure it'd be a flattering now to do a before and after. hahaha

Cool stuff Ralph. Dig it

Nice Ralph. I like the car in the background too. Appears to be a Canadian '53 Pontiac ? Has '53 Chevrolet taillights.

Yes, my uncle Don's 53 Canadian Pontiac in the background. It was rare to see an "American Pontiac" here in Canada. I know of one guy with a 56.
This photo shows the front of the 53 Pontiac with Dad's Merc in the background.

Thanks Ralph. I know the Canadian cars in general changed the trim some. But I never knew the '53 Canadian Pontiac used the Chevy sheet metal and taillights.
I know Canadian Chrysler products in the 50's mixed it up too, like Plymouth and Dodge swapped around front and rear sheet metal.
