Gasoline filter for the tank
Hello everybody. A note for filter users: With the filter insert for the tank can be slow to fill in with gasoline, because the air can escape bad. I have spot-welded a small tube as a vent, and now the last tank quarter is filled up quickly too.

Re: Gasoline filter for the tank
Eh, I don't think that is meant as a filter, more of a spark arrestor...

Re: Gasoline filter for the tank
Hello everybody, thanks for the feedback.
Yes, my headline and filter-text are misleading. I also have the part as a flame retardant in it. Because as a filter, of course, it is much too crude. Yes, the spark arrester retains its function. Whether it is necessary, i do not think because modern gas stations have no static charges. But there was the part for this car and therefore I would like it too. The tube is a piece of a chrome car antenna and stands up 3/4 inches over because of the foaming of our fuel nozzles. Likewise, I have therefore enlarged the upper edge with holes because the foam "dances around the crown" and then switchs off the fuel nozzle.

Re: Gasoline filter for the tank
Maybe a Gas Tank Extension will help?? I know it helped ease refueling for me. It holds the nozzle better than without.
https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/P...earchByKeyword Some people use a piece of PVC pipe for this purpose, which I would not recommend. The PVC isolates the nozzle from the tank. The nozzle should be grounded to the tank to prevent static electricity. |

I put mine in a large zip lock bag and put it back in the trunk.

Re: Gasoline filter for the tank
Hello and good afternoon/evening,
so before I put on a nozzle, which I have to wipe dry afterwards and still get smelly hands, I see it as much better to equip the sieve with a vent tube. Time required 20 minutes!

I have been looking at those metal ones, they look nice but for ease of replacement, I was thinking of the PVC. Up to date I have been just slowly filling it. It get uncomfortable holding it there while holding the rubber nozzle back, ... California Car. Regards Bill |
