Default 1936 85HP OIl Change

Hi all,
The Owner's manual Indicates that the Oil Pan capacity of 5 Quarts of oil. How much oil do I add on a oil change, How much oil is left/remains in the dipper tray? Don't want to over fill.

I'm not sure my dip stick is correct?

Thanks
HS

There is no dipper tray in a V8. When you change oil, just let it drain for awhile so all the oil is out, then refill with five quarts. Check the dipstick marking. If the oil level is not at the full mark, just remark the stick.

HS - Run the motor for a bit to get it warmed up before draining the oil, and leave the oil plug out for a good 15 minutes. Replace the plug and add the five quarts. There wont be enough oil left in the pan to make a difference. As far as the dip stick, there are different lengths and yours may have been replaced at some point.
