I wouldn't think it would help much on a solid axle, I really don't know though. i hope someone who has done it will pipe up.

Those bars (anti roll bars technically IIRC) add resistance to body roll without a rougher straight line ride. That's a gross under simplification. We use them on early fords, my 32 has one. But how that works out on a truck probably depends on load. Empty, I'm not so sure. Big camper on the back, probably front and rear would help. My experience with pickups is limited, and they always seem light in the back before understeer is a problem in the front. Except for the 32, I don't have any experience with solid axles in front.

Not much help, but I'd ask what other modifications in mind (lowered front axle ?) and what's the complaint or problem now.

I have a '48 F-1 with stock suspension and don't see a need for a sway bar. I have driven at high speed on the interstate and Charlotte Motor Speedway. I'm talking pushing 90 MPH. My suspension was all new at time of restoration.
