Fender interchange
Would OEM front fenders from a ‘30 coupe, interchange to a ‘31 Tudor?
Thanks |

Re: Fender interchange
Depends. The splash aprons are different early to late 30. If I remember right the 28-early 30 splash aprons are the same as 31's. The late 30 have the split aprons. That being said as long as you match the aprons they will match up.

Re: Fender interchange
Most 1930 front fenders have the "nose" section spot welded to the fender . The 1931 does not have the "nose" this part is incorporated in the front of the splash shield . To fit the 30 fenders the "nose" would have to be cut out and holes drilled to connect the fender to the splash shield . There is overlap with the two styles so it could be no modification would be needed if you are lucky,
check to see what you have . John in weather was cancelled today Suffolk County England . |

In answer to your question, yes, it can be done, but it will not be an undetectable swap unless you weld an additional strip of metal along the bottom of the fender's inner edge. This will be a difficult job because of the curve required along the inner edge of the '30 fender. If you have the welding and metal shaping skills to perform this kind of task, I should think you'd be able to repair any badly dented/cracked front fender your '31 Model A may have. Or are you just missing a front fender and a '30 fender is available to you? Have you advertised for a 1931 front fender? They're around. Try Bert's Model A Center in Denver. Don't bother with the repo's. They are a nightmare to fit. Marshall |
