Default Anybody missing supercharger waterpump pulley's?

IMG_2304.jpgI need a water pump pulley for my supercharger set up. I will be doing some research on finding a suitable machine shop to reproduce this for me if needed. Any recommendations on who to seek out for this? Anybody intersted in having a small batch made to reduce costs? If this works out smoothly I have the other pulley's available to use as a referance for having more made to replace lost or bad pulley's.

I wonder if Grainger's would have a pulley with the correct number of sheaves, right diameter, depth, and mounting bore.

If you have those dimensions, post them so the FordBarners can use their collective Internet searching skills to find one that is already being made.

I wonder if 3D printing is an option. Supposedly they have printers that use a hundred different types of materials...even prototyping one that can make human organs.

If you dont care for an exact copy use a std 4 sheave and do the final bore in a lathe.
Cnc machining a pulley aint to bad, if the lathe is 2 spindle even better.
And if youre gonna do it and want to spread the cost make single and duals to.
Run steel and aluminum.
Its the setup that cost most...

I have a couple of nos rebuilt drivers side pumps and a core pair with double pulleys.also a couple of generators.
Probably cheaper than making them.
Pm me if interested.

It's a cast pulley thats 4 1/4" diameter, 2 1/4" deep, 3 sheeves with a 1/2" diameter bore. The sheeves are approx. 5/8" wide X 3/4" deep. I'm good to go for pumps, generators and the other pulleys. Options open on steel or aluminum for material to use. I'm trying to post a couple pics right now, may have to attach to my original post. Thanks for the help!

I could use a set if you get them made..Water pumps and crank pulley with three sheaves.

The upper pictures of the back of the pulley's indicate they have been
rubbing on pump housing??? Were the bearings in the pump real loose
from the belt being to tight? G.M.

The real-world capabilities of "3D printing" are grossly mis-understood right now. The 3D printers that are affordable for regular Joes are only useful for trinkets or parts that are only very lightly stressed (both thermally and mechanically).

The only additive manufacturing method that would work for such an application would be direct metal laser sintering (DMLS). Very high end and very expensive. (The machines alone cost six-figures.)

It would be cheaper to either turn them 100% from billet, or cast them and then clean them up on a lathe.

G.M. - Skip did not say anything to me about excessive wear on the parts I sent to him for restoration. I assumed it was where the riser was before it got cut off from the casting process. Mike - I have never heard of DMLS before. Sounds like it would be over kill for what I'm trying to accomplish.

I will talk to Skip about taking a dual pulley, turning the front end down to the front of the V on the outer groove and taking a single pulley and turning the rear of it off to the back of that grove and brazing them back
together. If your not in a hurry I will be back in Florida on Oct 10 th and will do it for him. I will talk to him today and see what he thinks, I don't have the parts here to look at. G.M.

Wondering if this progressed. I'm interested in what was found.

I would also be interested if a solution has been found. I have been searching for years for a set of 3 groove pulleys.

I do believe that the two sheave '37-'41 truck pulleys use a larger diameter shaft than the passenger car pulleys. Maybe 5/8" dia.,cars are 1/2".

I just measured my NOS 37-41 truck 2-sheave pulley and the shaft diameter is 5/8". I hadn't realized that before.

this seems doable with parts from a HVAC supply source. what you need is a 3 groove B sheave.checking my grainger book, they list a 423b sheave which translates as a 4.2 o.d. 3 groove cast iron sheave. this will require a SH bushing but the smallest i.d. is 5/8''.you will need another simple bushing to increase your shaft size to 5/8. i have one but it has a 3/16 x 3/16 key. if your shaft has that keyway you should be good. price for everything will be around 100.00.
