Default Cylinder head ID help needed

I have a pair of heads that have 29A cast into them with Ford USA also cast in them. My limited reference material leads me to think they are 1942 Mercury heads because of the 29A. If they are true merc heads should there be a Mercury logo on them instead of the Ford logo?

I think Ford used these heads on 3 3/16" bore engines, whether used in Mercury or Ford. The 29A does not seem to be a commonly found head.

The Mercury notation on heads came later with the 8CM '49 & later engine I believe.

I like the term "not commonly found" as opposed to that over used word "rare". Thanks
