Default Distributor Removal

Need to pull my head and change the gasket. But...I can't get the distributor to pull out. I have followed all the steps, even removed the locking screw completely but no luck. Would appreciate any and all suggestions, tips, etc.... It is a restored vehicle so I am trying to be careful. Thanks

Finish pulling the head and pound it out from the backside.

You say it is a "RESTORED" vehicle. How long ago was that? If it's restored then the distributor should have been removed and rebuilt, so it shouldn't be too stuck in place. You didn't say, but I assume you have the locking screw removed from the side of the head. You can spray some Kroil into that hole and under the distributor to try to help loosen things. If you don't have the distributor removal tool, and if you try to pry it up don't use too much force, and pry very evenly with two screwdrivers, one on each side of the distributor. As mentioned don't use too much force as they like to break where the shaft housing meets the upper body.
