Default '41 - '48 Mercury Coupes

I have zip experience with '41 - '48 Mercurys and have a few basic questions:

1. Did Mercury make both short and long door coupes in each of those years?
2. Does short door = business coupe and long door equal deluxe with a back seat?
3. Will '41 front sheet metal (fenders, hood, grille assembly, etc) bolt on to the later bodies without any modifications.

Thanks for your input in advance,

Lee

Mercury made long and short door coupes in 1941 & 42 but never made a short door coupe in 46 - 48. They are all long door 6 passenger sedan coupes.

The bodies from the firewall back are the same as the Fords. different chrome, dash, gauges etc.

Nor sure about fitting 41 sheet metal to a later model however the bodies appear to be the same and they are on the same wheelbase (118 inch) so it may work.

Here are a pair of 1941 Mercury Coupes that attended the Golden Jubilee V8 Nationals held at Lake Tahoe, Nevada in June last year. You will note that one has the Short Doors while the other has the Long Doors.

There was only one 1942 Mercury Coupe that I saw at the Golden Jubilee V8 Nationals held at Lake Tahoe in June 2013. It was the Long Door Model which are called Sedan Coupes.
