Please note that we are fully aware of what has transpired at the Edward Hotel, regarding the closing due to renovations and numerous violations they are trying to complete. We will be in touch with everyone as we have information to share and have already spoken this am with the hotel and daily on what is going on. Thank you all for your patience and understanding. Re: MARC National 2019 Hotel Situation
Wow we stayed there once in about 2014, it was really pretty nice then I thought, wonder how it went south so fast Perhaps it was taken over by management that has a history of trashing hotels around the country with their filth, bed bugs, etc...........

Re: MARC National 2019 Hotel Situation
Mark, What's the prognosis? Are you receiving assurances that the hotel we be back in business in time for the meet?

Re: MARC National 2019 Hotel Situation
I was at the Edward Hotel in June for the Early Ford V8 Club Grand National meet. Do yourself a favor and ditch this place even if it does open back up. I would have camped given the option. Several floors were completely closed down. There were holes in the walls on the floors that were open. The wall paper was peeling off, carpet was filthy and stained. The bathroom was falling apart. The elevators were frequently broken. They lost my reservations I had made back in October for a June stay, what a pain in the ass that was. I've stayed in some seedy places before but the Edward was a massive dump.

Seth, I too had fond memories of this place from when the National Meet was there some 15± years ago, and a couple of years ago my family & I stayed there during Old Car Festival --and like you described, the hotel was really poorly maintained in quite a few areas. While we were there we decided to walk across the street to the mall to get something to eat and shop a bit, ...and it was the same way and in the same basic condition as the hotel. It is ironic you said that about risking life, as we went to the mall during daylight hours, but left after dark to walk back to the hotel, and none of the mall parking lot lighting was operational so it was pitch black outside, and very eerie walking a ¼ mile or so back to the hotel not being able to see your surroundings. Hopefully that has all changed (-or will change) too but I think the downed economy and poor management overall took a toll on the entire neighborhood and most of the businesses there. Such as shame as it definitely was a nice place to host a national meet at one time. . |

I wasn't trying to begrudge MARC or your meet. You have a fine organization. I can tell you from my personal experience that in the future if the Early Ford V8 Club uses this place as a host hotel for meets, I'll find alternative lodging or skip the event. When you plan and organize these meets it's a ton of work. You want your members and meet participants to have a memorable and enjoyable time and that includes the lodging accommodations. Naturally you want to keep meet attendees coming back and every detail counts. Just my opinion. |

Re: MARC National 2019 Hotel Situation
I was also at the V8 Meet this past summer, and I found the hotel to be OK. I stay in hotels probably 30 weeks a year and it was more than acceptable. My room was great and the staff was very friendly. It was clearly a bit worse for wear than the last time I was there for a V8 meet, but I thought it was fine. But I didn't try any restaurants there, and to me, that's the best indicator of whether ownership cares. I do think it's a great place for hosting a show, with an ideal location and lots of space. I hope they get back on track, for the show and for the good of the employees and the community. It was teeming with folks there for other conferences and Ford business when I was there in August.

Re: MARC National 2019 Hotel Situation
Looks like a nice place, and it has good reviews too. Probably a better location anyway.
