Route away from heat source , build a reflector shield or use an electric fuel pump .

Keep the fuel line away from the exhaust. It will pick up heat from the bottom of the firewall to the pump. Rubber hose over the line in this area helps. The two big problems are the fuel pump getting hot mainly from the intake manifold and the intake manifold transferring heat to the base of the carb. Bob Shewman 1-610-933-6637 or [email protected] makes a black phenolic 1/2" ventilated insulator that comes with gaskets and longer studs. I tested several of these for months in 90 degree temperatures and they drop the carb base about 25 degrees. This stopped rough running at slow speeds and reduced the gas boiling out of the carb after shut down . G.M.

vapor lock is a problem in the fuel pump, either its worn and weak or to much heat on it thus boiling the fuel in the pump thus causing it to lose its prime, heat on the fuel line afer the pump is not vapor lock, its a case of to much heat on the carb and boiling the fuel out of it and let it pour into the intake manifold and flooding the engine, either way you need to insulate the carb and fuel pump from ecessive heat, and as GM says put an insulation block between the carb and intake manifold, the taller the better, if your manifold is aluminum that is one major problem, they are real bad about transfering heat to the carb
