Default Model A tappets

Snyder’s gives the tapper diameter as .5930/.5935. My tappets measure .5910. My question is what diameter should standard tappets be.

As Snyder's says. I think they also make them in oversize in case your block is worn. Bottom line is there should be no side-to-side movement felt or they will be very noisy! I have used Chrysler tappets, .625". Only minor reaming of the block is needed to fit these in.

Daren, do you mind me asking exactly how you measured yours? Is it possible your measuring device is what is throwing you off? If you recall, several engine rebuilders told you that 0.001 - 0.0015 is the desired clearance, and I posted a picture showing you the proper lifter bore size. If you do the math, 0.5945 - 0.5930 pretty much puts you with the proper specification.
