Front Crank Neoprene Seal Failure
Earlier this week, my 31’ wagon began leaking oil (pretty seriously) from the front crank seal. The engine was rebuilt 3 years ago by Antique Engine Rebuilders and has performed wonderfully. The front seal is the one piece neoprene type. I have removed the oil pan. That front seal was REALLY glued in there with blue RTV.
1) What could have caused this? 2) What are my options going forward from here? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Front Crank Neoprene Seal Failure
I removed the lip seal in my engine and threw it away. I cleaned out the groves in the pan and cover and put in a rope seal. The modern rope seal is Teflon impregnated and lasts a long time and does an excellent job of sealing.
