A Donor has been found!
All.......just an update on my 29 town sedan. I located and purchased a 30 rolling chassis. The rolling chassis has a recently rebuilt engine and fairly new tires. I also got a set of Sears Allstate white wall tires. They still have the nubs on them. I am going to take the rebuilt engine out of the 30 and put it in the 29. The 29 is getting closer to being on the road!

My fingers are crossed for you that the engine is really rebuilt! Did you get to hear it run?

that looks like a nice set of wheels and caps. mine have that gotta be original look. they were really rusty but with some polish and some time they now look well aged. If the steering and rad are good people will probably want them to replace their problem parts.

Re: A Donor has been found!
also springs if they dont have rust pitting they are probalby replacement new springs. or put them on your car if yours are old. And how about the shocks? Are they on the 30 frame and do they work or are they replacements? It can go either way. my car was a good shape car that got an engine at one time and little else but no cobbleups and no shocks. Some cars either were kept up perfectly or just fixed with what was on hand. And hey they all have been rebuilt before its all about if it holds.

Re: A Donor has been found!
Did get to hear it run and also drove it around the yard. It fired right up and you could see the edges of the new gaskets on the oil pan and head. My plans are to borrow the engine for now and put in the 29 so that I can drive it and then next year have the 29 engine rebuilt and reunited with the 29. I am going to put the 30 back in the 30 and I have already put the word out for a truck body. We shall see,Ralph

Re: A Donor has been found!
You know.........I have a mustang with 670 supercharged horsepower and a camaro with 455 horsepower but I find myself consumed by the Model A. If it is a sickness I am certainly not interested in the cure. Please don't call the doctor,Ralph

Re: A Donor has been found!
My opinion on the Allstate tires which are actually probably Garfield (zig zag design tread) is the are now 40 years old and wear like iron sometimes but drive aweful and at the age alone should surely be replaced. You would be better served putting the $99 dollar Lucas tires on. Just last week a guy was driving cross county and threw treads off on 3 if his4 Garfield sears Allstate tires.
I got him fixed up with a set but again they are not safe except for putting around the neighborhood Larry Shepard |

Re: A Donor has been found!
Thanks Larry......I am not going to travel to far too fast so I will probably give them a shot. I have not heard of the Lucas brand before. I do know that I want white walls. I am looking at another frame that has good tires and they are white walls and so that may be an option,Ralph
