I recently purchased a new brake switch and connecting rod for my 28 Phaeton (RHD). Silly me, I failed to notice it was for a LHD vehicle .
Any RHD owners able to enlighten me on the correct brake switch and method of attachment to the vehicle and brake rod? My present switch is attached to the bottom of the floor board.

Have a look at O'neils vintage ford website there is a picture of a RHD 28 -29 switch on there. I'm sure you could adapt the LHD one to work after seeing the picture.
It mounts on the transmission on the right hand side.

I use the easily obtained LHD switch which I mount on a piece of 3 mm sheet I bolt to the chassis so that the switch is hanging out there above the muffler. I make a longer clevis pin for where the brake rod attaches to the pedal and attach a linkage to that to operate the switch. A bit of a PITA but it's just one more thing that we who sit on the right side of the car have to put up with.

This shows how it all goes together. One of our Australian barners posted some pictures of how he adapted a LHD repro to fit RHD. ( Lots cheaper than the one shown above)

Thanks for the picture. That finally explains what those two extra holes are for in my frame.

Yep - thats's exactly how I did mine! No problems at all.

Thanks for all your feed back. I will make up an adapter plate and attach the LHD switch as per the RHD switch in Bick in New Zealands post and Synchro909's post. All very useful. Better than been attached to the floor boards.

The bracket I make gets the switch close to being directly behind the brake pedal so that the link pulls straight, not at an angle like Bick's diagram showed. I prefer that but to each his own. Neither is right or wrong, just different.
