Default 1931 Cabriolet Interior

Should the interior of the '31 Cabriolet S/W 68C be cloth or leather? Also did all Cabriolets come with chrome windshields? Thanks

here are some photos of original ads
the brochure is the orignal cabriolet convertible sedan one issued by Ford
the newspaper ad is dated June 17,1931 ,introducing both the convertible sedan and slant window cabriolet
both leather and dark brown bedford cloth were offered at the introduction June 17,1931
this is stated in the two introductory ads
the chicago newsletter 6-19-31 lists the dark brown bedford cloth
and in 7-10 1931 it lists the crushed grain leather

BUT in the oct 8 1931 Indianopolis newsletter it states that Deep Brown crushed grain leather TRIM is availible
"this being optional with the Brown Broadcloth upholstry or the Gray Drab material
all this being said
if your going for fine point leather will only be allowed after Oct 1931 how many cars were made after this ,i dont know

more photos
the third photo is some original 68c upholstry

i dont know ,maybe its just me
but in the Indianapolis newsletter it states that leather TRIM is being introduced
which is being used OPTIONALLY with the bedford cloth or gray drab material
now was gray drab material used for upholstry for the 68C?
not that i know of
wasnt it used for wrapping the bows?

Thank you for the input. I have been looking to purchase a Cabriolet 68C over the past few months. The cars I have found available have had the leather interior, they were older restorations. The leather just did not look right for some reason, it may have been just me.

Thanks for the input; if anyone knows of a 68C Cabriolet or A400 for sale, I would be interested.

This question is a little off topic, but are the cabriolet hoods and rumble lids the same as coupes and roadsters of the same year?

Yes, the hoods and rumble lids are the same as regular production as other cars of the same year.

I stand corrected on the cloth-have only seen leather and am surprised cloth was offered
on a convertible.

My Judging Standards page 12-16 states the 68C has either "Brown Bedford Cord" seats or Gray drab wool cloth seats, or, available October 1931 the seats can be "Brown crush grain genuine leather."

Each of these also has its own cowl, windlace, and package tray materials listed.

Might I suggest you purchase a copy of the latest Judging Standards and Restoration Guidelines" ?
