Greyhound Radiator Cap Identity Sought
Going to see this cap soon and would like to know what it is beforehand. I'm thinking it might be for an early 1930's Lincoln or a 1932 Ford. Sorry, I only have these poor email photos to go by. To my eye it appears as if it is missing the original bottom and has been drilled for a nut & screw to mount another style bottom? Are Ford Greyhounds a different measurement than Lincoln's?
Thanks for any help, Howard Dennis |

Re: Greyhound Radiator Cap Identity Sought
It's probably for a Lincoln and it predates introduction on Ford cars. The Ford Greyhound was cast as part of the 1934 Ford radiator cap as pictured below. The documentation I have states that Ford authorized the Greyhound for only the 1934 model year - on the1934 Ford cars. Some who post on this Forum disagree on this....

Its a 32-34 Lincoln that has been modified to probably fit a Ford.Lincoln's 32-34 and even earlier have a threaded disc (part of the cap)for the attachment.Lincoln's are also bronze or brass unlike the Ford's which was diecast.

I agree with Sheldon that it is a modified Lincoln dog with the lower, threaded collar removed. As a fan of Model K Lincolns, my guess is that it is a '31.

Howard Dennis P. S. I did end up with this cap and despite the damage it cleaned up pretty well. |

I laughed when I saw your picture, it looks like your training the dog.

Re: Greyhound Radiator Cap Identity Sought
FYI, the Lincoln greyhounds were made by Gorham and were very high quality bronze castings.
