Not often you see a 1931 AA Standrive Chassis without the body. The caption on the image indicates the pictures were taken in 1932.

Click the links below the images for an even bigger view.

Note the special muffler.

I agree it is unusual to see the long wheelbase on this one. I've only seen two standrives in person and they were both the shorter wheelbase. Haven't seen pictures of one similar to this either.

Tim - Do you have the URL's for the water delivery photos? Or some direction on how to find them?

JB in OB sent me a private message to suggest I check out the Old Motor as they recently did a writeup about the bumper on the AA water truck; turns out the bumper has lights in it.

You wouldn't happen to have any images of any? Have never seen another one.

Tim,
Until see the picture you posted, I have never seen a standrive as an AA157. That must have been a special order (just guessing).

The picture of the AA truck with the English "dropside" body with the assembled work force is the first vehicle to be completed at Fords giant Dagenham Essex County plant after relocating from the Manchester Trafford Park plant . English built trucks were not factory fitted with front bumpers .

Not often you get to see inside the shop of a custom body builder but here we get to see a whole room full of custom designed C-cabs for 1930 AA chassis.

Notice how the driver's side cowl has been notched towards the front to give more foot room in and out the open door area.

Wanna see some AA's hauling some A's?

The first sport coupe in this picture has windwings and a quail!

Notice how the "New Car Instruction Sheet" appears to be mounted on the passenger window of the cars in these next four pics. Have only seen it in the windshield before.

Although no commercial vehicles in these next two I'll just keep all these pics together.

The "Moores Jam " truck is English as it has the fender lamp and English registration . Pity the last digit is obscured could be it still exists , you never know .

John in cold crisp Suffolk County England .

This photo helps show what the non-rubbed out paint looked like on the commercial vehicles.

Quite the custom body on this AA.

AA Bus with Deluxe front bumper.

I believe these next two images show a drop floor delivery.

AA "Floral Car" looks like a normal front bumper on the rear.

Thanks

Quite the intake and carb setup on this custom bodied panel truck. Also notice the modified hood with a glass window to show off the accessory equipment.

Notice the illuminated signs on top of these vehicles. This also easily shows the double-sided white wall tires.

I like the painted frame on this one...I always enjoy these pictures as it gives perspective on just how big AA's were compared to other makes of the day.
