Columbia question
Can a Columbia over drive be used without controls by "locking" it in the low or high gear? If yes, how would one go about doing this? Thank-you, ..........Matt in Alameda

Re: Columbia question
Yes but.... Running in high all the time puts a strain on things expecially when starting out. Years ago I drove a 40 without controls twice a week on a hundred mile trip, put it in high before leaving and put it in low during the week around town. When I got controls set up it sure made a difference in ease of driving.

Re: Columbia question
To answer your question , yes you can leave it either in high or low. You don't need to lock it in. Once you throw the arm one way or the other it will stay there. You can do this by hand after removing the alu. housing, make sure you put the housing back are you will have a nice oil leak. Putting the arm towards the center will move the clutch dog out and give you high. Pulling the arm to the passenger side will give you low. Either way the arm will stay where you put it. It will also stay where you put it in reverse.
