V-8 engine serial number
I have a 34 truck with water pumps in the bock. I would like to determine what year it is. Is there a serial number on the block? and where is it?

Re: V-8 engine serial number
Normally there are no serial numbers on flathead blocks made in the USA. If you have water pumps in the block, instead of in the heads, you would have a '37-'53 block. If you post some pictures of your engine, I'm sure we could better determine which year block you actually have.

Re: V-8 engine serial number
If its a 21 stud engine with block mount pumps that narrows it down a little further to late 30s (37/38). If it has 24 head studs with center water ports on the heads it could be from 39 to 48. Some of the engines had date codes stamped into the intake manifold machined surface on the right rear but not all. Most of the 59A engines have a large 59 cast on the top of the bell housing indicating a block from 45 to 48 or there abouts.
