Oil seeping from head/block
I have a very small amount of oil seeping from my head just above where the serial number on the block is. Seems to run great. Any thoughts from all of the experts out there?

I doubt that it is oil. Antifreeze can feel oily too.

I agree with the anti-freeze and also the stop leak. Re-torque, 55, use torque pattern.

You don't say whether OHV head or not, but be advised that flathead head does not have oil up top as a normal function of that design. So, how could oil be coming from up there ? Well, if your RINGS are so worn out that there is no good compression ...then oil can and will be allowed to move up thru cylinder to head. If that is case, check plugs. A plug living in an oily atmosphere will be oily and black sooty condition. If no evidence of this (bad rings/oil migration/sooty plugs) then make sure that you are not misidentifying liquid and situation. If lack of oil control problem/evidence, I'd remove head and look that over. |
